West Sabine ISD identifies student killed in crash on Highway 184

PINELAND, TX (KTRE) - West Sabine ISD has confirmed a student at West Sabine High School was killed in a crash on State Highway 184 Friday.

According to a Facebook post from the district, Easton Horn died in the crash. The district said Easton’s mother was also killed in the crash.

The community of Pineland/West Sabine ISD has suffered a tremendous loss due to a car accident on Hwy 184 yesterday...

The post said another West Sabine student along with a child from a neighboring district was injured in the crash.

“Our entire school district is saddened by this event. It is very difficult to experience the death of a young person.” said Interim Superintendent Jane B. Stephenson. “The West Sabine High School campus will be open on Monday for students to drop by and speak to a counselor as needed. The well being of our students will remain a top priority as we deal with the emotions surrounding this tragedy.”

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Friday about six miles west of Hemphill on State Highway 184.
