Afternoon Weather at your Fingertips

TROPICAL STORM BARRY FORMS IN THE GULF OF MEXICO

EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - Good afternoon, East Texas! Here’s the weather where you live: Another hot afternoon with a heat advisory in effect through early evening. Temperatures will reach the mid 90s and heat index values, or the “feels like” temperatures will reach the triple digits this afternoon. A very slight chance for an isolated shower or thundershower to develop but most places will stay rain free.

Tropical Storm Barry officially formed in the northern Gulf of Mexico this morning and will continue to strengthen into a hurricane over the next 24 to 48 hours. Landfall is expected along the Louisiana coast just south of Baton Rouge early Saturday. A few outer bands of rain could move into East Texas during the day Saturday but overall impacts to the area look minimal as the track takes the storm farther east. However, changes could take place over the next several hours so stay tuned as we continue to monitor this storm closely.

With the tropical system expected to move farther east, temperatures will stay in the lower 90s across East Texas this weekend with a chance for a few scattered showers and thundershowers.
