NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) -The Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who broke into and crashed a first responders vehicle while deputies were helping someone in need.
On Saturday, Nacogdoches Volunteer Fire crews were assisting with a medical call off County Road 521. When they returned to their vehicle, they found it stuck in a ditch with a firearm and a phone stolen.
Deputies said it’s an unfortunate crime that someone could commit against a first responder.
"And that’s what our firemen do each and every day, all of our first responders do, and they are not even getting paid to do that job and they’re just going out because they love their community and they want to help and benefit their community,” said Bridges.
According to deputies, they were able to pull fingerprints from the crime to help identify a suspect.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office.
