LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - An East Texan is set to star on a hit TV show.
Devin Way, a Lufkin native, will be in upcoming episodes of the show Grey’s Anatomy on ABC.
The actor’s career started in modeling before he ultimately was picked to star on the show.
Way graduated from central high school back in 2010.
“Kinda of God opened the flood gates and handed me a dream that I didn’t even know I was capable of or deserving of,” Way said.
He appeared in Thursday night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
“I remember I was suppose to find out next week whether I got it or not and I didn’t hear anything so I was like they must have not casted and the following week they called and said I got it,” Way said.
But Way said it wasn’t easy getting through numerous auditions.
“So I have an agent in la and she sends me on audition after audition, I’ve probably been working to get something for the past 4 years and so when I got this audition I was like oh amazing, a Shondaland audition but you take all these auditions with a grain of salt,” Way said.
Way grew in the Lufkin area and attended Central High School and was involved in the high school cheerleading team.
Way’s high school College and Career Coordinator Susie Jones watched the episode. She says the actor always knew his dreams would come true.
“I think in Devin’s, in his heart, he always wanted to move forward and pursue modeling and see what he could do at the Hollywood level. We could see it in him because he was that kind of outgoing student," Jones said.
Jones said she’s excited to see way’s dreams becoming a reality.
“And we are very excited as a district for him because he’s one of our kids. And once you’re our kid here at Central you’re always our kid here at Central,” Jones said.
Way spoke with East Texas Now’s Kayla Lyons about his background and upcoming role on the show.
