Stuck on what to wear for Halloween? Retailers weigh in on what’s popular this year
(KTRE) - Halloween is just a week away, and you may need help deciding what costume to wear. Pennywise the Clown? A Marvel character? What about a classic like a witch, zombie, or the trusty vampire?
Workers at Spirit Halloween store in Lufkin have been busy keeping the shelves stocked with costumes this year, with Hocus Pocus being the most popular item for adults.
“Every year we get Hocus Pocus in and people just come in and grab it all up at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season we don’t really have anything left over,” said key holder, Dallas Guerrero.
Another popular contender this year is the evil clown Pennywise, who is a character in the movie It chapter two, and the Chucky from Child’s Play.
“Pennywise ... we saw a lot of him this year, and Chucky, from Child’s Play. I think it’s because of the new movie that came out and everything,” said Guerrero.
We caught up with some shoppers who happen to be huge fans of both movies.
“I want to be Pennywise. I am a big fan of the movies, the IT movies and that’s what I want to be for Halloween. I might scare a couple of kids, but it will be fun,” said shopper Fabian Terrazas.
Coming in at number one for kids is Fortnite, which is a video game that has become a worldwide sensation.
“My little brother plays Fortnite. I know a bunch of kids that play, my cousins play, I have played it a few times and I’m just like it’s not for me, but I understand the attraction behind it,” said Guerrero.
Other popular costumes on this year’s list includes super heroes, unicorns and witches.
