Lufkin Detachment Marine Corps League in need of collection box sites for Toys for Tots program
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Lufkin Detachment Marine Corps League is in desperate need of volunteers to help with their annual Toys for Tots program and is asking the community for help.
Donation boxes are needed in the county to collect toys before Christmas. Due to a recent loss of members, the Marine Corps League has not been able to put out many collection boxes.
That’s according to Brian Crews, Toys for Tots coordinator. He said he is hoping local businesses will help out and sign up to help with the toy drive this holiday season.
“And it’s extremely important for us to help these children because the psyche of a child who wakes up on Christmas morning without anything under the tree can be devastating, and these children need to know that we love them, the community loves them and we want to see them smile on Christmas morning," said Crews.
If you have a business and would like to become a collection site, the Lufkin Detachment Marine Corps League will have volunteers at their Marine house, Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. located at 1112 Atkinson drive.
