Lufkin police investigating shooting after victim shows up at hospital

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - According to the Lufkin Police Department, a person was shot and showed up at the hospital to receive medical help, prompting an investigation.

The report was received by police at 6:20 p.m., according to Jessica Pebsworth with Lufkin PD. The 17-year-old male showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Pebsworth said that was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. He is now being taken to an out-of-town hospital for surgery. He is expected to recover, according to police.

Police also received reports from neighbors in the 400 block of Locke Alley of what sounded like a fight and a gunshot. The suspect appears to have fled the scene, Pebsworth said. The police are out investigating at this time.
