WEBXTRA: Lufkin teen headed to Washington, D.C. after winning Voice of Democracy essay competition

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) -Jessica Schlaudt, 17 of Lufkin, won first place in the state of Texas in the Veteran of Foreign Wars: Voice of Democracy essay competition.

The essay topic this year was “What Makes America Great”. She will be representing Texas at the national competition in Washington, DC in March.

“I feel blessed to have won,” she said.
