HUNTINGTON, Texas (KTRE) - A drive-thru style graduation was hosted Tuesday at Huntington Elementary School to celebrate the kindergarten class of 2020.
Parents and family members lined up in their cars with decorated posters for the big day.
School staff welcomed the mini-graduates with smiling faces as they called their names and handed out their diplomas.
There was a photobooth set up at the end of the parade for them to take individual pictures in their cap and gowns, as well.
Officials say that due to COVID-19 limitations in place, it is important to them to make sure all grade levels in Huntington ISD have a memorable ending.
“We got together old antique desks from people’s houses and apples, and just raided classrooms and made things work out. Without being able to do the normal kindergarten graduation we just put this together and it has been such a blessing today to see these little faces smile and they are so excited. It’s just been really cool,” Elementary school principal, Lauren Hooper expressed.
Huntington’s senior drive-thru parade is on Thursday and the high school graduation is scheduled for this Friday.
