NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Nacogdoches is making some changes to Banita Creek Dog Park.
Crews are working to add three additional trails that will tie the park facilities into Banita Creek trail itself.
They also added three van accessible handicap parking areas.
Officials say a few places in the area did not have handicap accessible features, so it is important for the city to incorporate them.
“Now they are in the cleaning phase. We are kind of waiting for this asphalt to finishing curing, so all the oil will settle before we do our striping. We want it to be nice and pretty, and we do not want anything to bleed through on our paint. In about a week or so, you will start seeing paint show up and then you will see the van accessible signs go up. It will be complete at that point,” said Cary Walker, Public Works Manager for the City of Nacogdoches.
Officials say they also will be paving, re-striping, and adding van accessible handicap spaces at the farmers market, which is on the south side of the dog park.
