NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Around 4:00 a.m. on Friday, a family-owned business in downtown Nacogdoches was burglarized. It was the first time in 67 years that the store has been broken into.
As sales associate Piper Adkins was getting ready for work, she received a call about a break-in at Rees Jewelry store in Nacogdoches.
“The window behind me was busted in. There was glass all over the place. Things were taken out of the window,” Adkins said. “We just got right into trying to figure out the inventory and looking at the camera footage.”
After reviewing the camera footage, Adkins said there are two suspects.
“It was a couple who left, changed clothes, and came back to grab some more stuff,” Adkins said. “The first time they came around, they were both wearing hoodies. The woman had pink hair. It looked to be done herself and it was short. The man appeared to have a buzzcut. In one of the frames, you could tell he had facial hair like a mustache and a goatee. Tattoos on his arms also.”
Several items were taken, including prototypes.
“We had about three necklaces taken. Two in Sterling silver and one was in gold. I think that’s why they originally busted the window to try to get those engagement rings,” Adkins said.
Adkins said they will pursue all leads and are lucky to have had security and surveillance system in place.
“It was a lot, but we are figuring it out. Everyone in the community has come together and shared our Facebook posts. So, we are feeling hopeful that we will hopefully get our stuff back,” Adkins said. “We just really appreciate, you, know everyone thinking of us.”
Adkins said this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone who has any additional information should contact the Nacogdoches Police Department at (936) 559-2607.
