LUFKIN Texas (KTRE) - In the wake of a shooting incident that occurred at a convenience store on North Raguet Street late Friday night, the Lufkin Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who was captured on surveillance video.
According to Jessica Pebsworth, a spokeswoman for the Lufkin Police Department, the victim has been identified as Manuel Angel Soto, 50, of Lufkin.
“Soto was flown to an out-of-town hospital early this morning,” Pebsworth said in an e-mail Saturday afternoon. “I do not have an update on his condition as of today. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.”
The shooting incident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. Friday in the MB Food Store parking lot at 708 North Raguet St. The surveillance video captured the image of the suspect moments before he shot Soto.
Soto and the victim had an exchange in the parking lot, a press release stated. Then the suspect shot Soto at close range, hitting him several times in the legs and arm.
The suspect then got into a small gray or silver car as a passenger and left the scene, the press release stated.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Department at 936-633-0356 or Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous,” the press release stated.
