NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department have arrested a man after a woman’s body was found in a home in the 2400 block of Starr Avenue Sunday morning.

According to a press release, Nacogdoches police officers and firefighters were dispatched out to the 2400 block of E. Starr Ave. on a sick call at about7:34 a.m. Sunday. When the NPD officers got to the scene, they found the body of a 72-year-old woman who apparently died as a result of an assault.

“First responders attempted life-saving measures, and she was transported to the closest hospital,” the press release stated. “The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.”

The victim has been identified as Carole Favro, of Nacogdoches.

A person of interest was found at the scene at the time of the incident, the press release stated. During their investigation, NPD investigators developed enough probable cause to charge Jared Delgado, of Nacogdoches, with murder in connection with Favro’s death.

Delgado was taken to the Nacogdoches County Jail.

Sgt. Brett Ayres with the Nacogdoches Police Department declined to comment on the details on how Favro was killed. He added that it is a “fluid” and ongoing investigation.

“As further information becomes available, it will be released,” the press release stated.
