East Texas schools close due to COVID-19 resurgence
EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - Several East Texas schools are closing with some moving to remote learning due to a resurgence of COVID-19.
Chapel Hill ISD (Smith County) The district has also issued a temporary mask mandate to take effect on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Students, staff, and visitors must properly wear a mask inside district buildings and vehicles until further notice.
Excelsior ISD will be closed until Thursday, Jan. 20 due to the number of active COVID-19 cases affecting the district’s staff and students.
Lindale ISD will be closed Friday, Jan. 21. Students will not have the responsibility of making up school work during this temporary closure. Classes resume Monday, Jan. 24.
Van ISD will be closed Friday, Jan. 21 due to “the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the impact this is having on daily operations.” Students and staff are scheduled to return to Van ISD campuses on Monday, Jan. 24.
Woden ISD will be closed Friday, Jan. 21 due to staffing issues. All extra-curricular events and activities remain as scheduled.
Whitehouse ISD announced that the district “will remain closed Thursday and Friday, January 20th and 21st. Extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled and we will return to school on a normal schedule Monday, January 24th.”
