Angelina County Tax Office system down due to connectivity issues
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - For about six weeks now, connection at the Angelina County Tax Office has been on and off. Currently, it’s off.
Due to the outages the office has not been able to process any car registrations, titles, or vehicle documents.
“They had a ticket out to AT&T, but because we came up at some point, they disregarded the ticket,” said Collier.
Auto Registration Supervisor Terri Collier said the problem is with their AT&T service, and their hands are tied.
“I have called our regional, our regional has sent up tickets and requests and spoke to upper management and that’s what we’re waiting for now, they had to reopen another ticket today because AT&T had closed it out,” said Collier.
Customers are regrettably being turned away due to the problem.
While Collier said they’ve had their fair share of frustrated customers, customer Jim Smith takes it all in stride.
“I deal with them a lot on property taxes and other things and they always do a great job and you know what the world works better when we show a little grace. It’s really no big deal for me and I’ll just make another trip down here, I might call first,” said Smith.
With there only being one tax office in Angelina County, residents aren’t able to just go to a different one if needed, but Collier said there is another option.
“You can go to a willing county, most of them are at least an hour away from here, but they just need to be a little patient because like I said it’s out of our hands, and we’re trying to do all that we can do for them,” said Collier.
Shelby, Newton, and Panola County accept vehicle registrations, but no titles.
Angelina county residents can also register online at TXDMV.GOV, but only if your registration hasn’t already expired.
