Addison Barthold is a Multimedia journalist with KCBD since July of 2021. She was born and raised right here in Lubbock, Texas, and has a passion for the people, issues, and stories of West Texas. Addison graduated from Texas Tech University in 2021 with a major in Journalism and minors in Legal Studies and Political Science. She has been a long-time viewer of KCBD, watching the channel since she was a young girl. Now, Addison hopes to contribute to the team by providing fresh, exciting, and truthful perspectives of West Texas lives.

The “Veterans Cash” scratch ticket is the Texas Lottery Commission’s 55th veteran scratch ticket released since a law passed in 2009 requiring the Texas Lottery Commission to produce scratch tickets exclusively benefitting Texas veterans.

TxDOT’s traveling impaired driving exhibit was on Texas Tech’s campus, showing students the dangers and consequences of impaired driving. This is part of their “Drive Sober, No Regrets” campaign, encouraging students and football fans to celebrate responsibly.

Kardi is one of the winners of the Walkin' Pets 2022 calendar for handicapped animals. At just four years old, Kardi lost the ability to move her legs due to IVDD, a degenerative disease which affected her spine. However, this handicap has not slowed down Kardi, who served as a therapy dog in the West Texas community up until this past year.

As part of the new redesign of the STAAR test, the test will be administered fully online starting next school year. This comes as a result of House Bill 3906 being passed in 2019.
