Caleb Beames joined KTRE in 2012 after spending several years working freelance in the high school sports scene of Houston.
For almost five years, Caleb put his energy into the daily news grind of East Texas. He covered everything from politics to healthcare, crime, education, and religious based stories. Through all of it, Caleb's heart remained in sports.
In the summer of 2017, Caleb was promoted to sports director. Since taking over the sports roll, he has covered Dez Bryant coming home to Lufkin, former NFL players Jorvorskie Lane and Jermichael Finley giving back to their hometowns and made the trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to cover the Lufkin All-Stars as they won the U.S. Championship at the 2017 Little League World Series.
On Friday nights, you can find Caleb at an East Texas football game covering his favorite event. Caleb was born in East Texas in the small town of Jefferson before moving to Houston. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University.
Caleb's favorite team to watch is the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoys the Rangers, Astros, Dallas Stars, SFA basketball and NASCAR. He married his wife Stefanie in 2009 and they have a son, Andrew Joseph.
The 150th season of college football ended Monday night, but not before the Top 11 players in the history of the game were announced and honored during halftime of the National Championship in New Orleans.
