Khyati Patel joined the KTRE news teams in December 2016. She is originally from Houston, but loves the piney woods the Lufkin market brings.
Before she started the news industry, Khyati was an early childhood teacher and an Admissions Director at a private school in Houston. She loved the classroom because it constantly kept her active. She then worked in College Station as a Digital Content Producer.
Khyati holds a double Bachelors of Arts from the University of Houston in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. She also earned her certification in early childhood education.
Prior to starting in Lufkin, Khyati interned at KPRC-TV in Houston. Her internship helped her challenge with new ideas. She was often trusted by producers and assignment editors with plenty of tasks.
When Khyati isn’t working, you will find her running outdoors, cooking meals, and shopping for jewelry. If you have a story idea for Khyati, please feel free to email her.
A new election law is generating some concern about voter turnout in upcoming elections. The law requires uniform hours of operation at temporary polling places and eliminates mobile or movable polling places.
