Vanessa Kjeldsen

Vanessa is a multimedia journalist for NBC15 through Northwestern University's Journalism Residency program.

Studying Journalism and Political Science at Northwestern, Vanessa has also served as a reporter, anchor and executive producer for Northwestern News Network, the University's broadcast news station.

Outside of the Midwest, Vanessa has reported in Boston, Mass., in her hometown of Austin, Texas and on Capitol Hill, covering national security and the Senate during the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Vanessa is driven by holding those in power accountable.

Vanessa received the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award for her police reporting in 2021 and the Tom Skilling National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Student Achievement Award in 2022.
