Sarver's journey: Strong performances pushed Sarver to spot on Season 8

Michael's Sarver's story of being a roughneck kept him on top of American Idol fans' mind as Fox gave him plenty of airplay.

Sarver led off Hollywood week with "More Than Anyone" by Gavin Degraw. Judge Randy Jackson told him it was better than his audition.

Sarver had judge Paula Abdul smiling during group week in Hollywood with a group performance of "Some Kind of Wonderful."

Sarver finished Hollywood week with "All or Nothing" by O Town.

The final judgment wasn't as seamless for Sarver, as the judges had him and another contestant engage in a "sing-off." But after all the anticipation, the judges decided to let both contestants be a part of Season Eight.

Follow every weekday through April 7 as we chronicle Sarver's journey on American Idol.

Sarver will be honored in Jasper April 7 and KTRE will be there providing full coverage of the event.
