NACOGDOCHES CO., TX (KTRE) - Lawmen now have a suspect description in the case of a stranded motorist who said she was sexually assaulted by someone who stopped to put gas in her vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male with long, gray tinted hair worn in a pony tail. He was believed to be driving a silver colored pick-up truck.
Investigators said the victim and her husband were traveling through Nacogdoches County along State Highway 103 headed to San Augustine County when their vehicle ran out of gas.
The female victim remained with the vehicle while her husband went on foot to get gas. A short while after the husband left his wife, a passing motorist stopped and pretended to offer the victim assistance. Reports said he grabbed the victim and forced her into his vehicle where he immediately began to sexual assault her.
The victim managed to retrieve a beer bottle from the suspect's vehicle during the attack and she struck the suspect on the head hard enough to shatter the bottle. The victim then managed to get away from the suspect and ran to her vehicle and locked herself inside.
The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle. Upon the husband's return, the victim informed him of the attack and they drove to San Augustine County and reported the incident. The victim was later transported to a hospital in Lufkin where she was treated and released.
Investigators are asking any residents or motorists who may have passed through Nacogdoches County along Highway 103 between the hours of about 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and observed the suspect's vehicle stopped behind the victim's vehicle to contact the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's office, or call Crime Stoppers (936-560-INFO).
