Lufkin woman hit by a beer bottle after allegedly trying to help disabled woman

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – A Lufkin woman is recovering from a head injury after getting caught in the middle a couple's dispute.

The woman was visiting a friend's home on the 1400 block of Warren Street in Lufkin Saturday evening.  According to the Lufkin Police Department, an argument broke out between the man and his wheelchair-bound wife.

The woman tried to intervene and stop the argument.  At some point, the man got angry and hit her on the back of the head with a glass beer bottle.

Police were called from Woodland Heights Hospital around 7 P.M. Another woman in the house took her to the hospital for treatment.

The case is being turned over to detectives for possible aggravated assault charges on the man.
