SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - SHELBY COUNTY, Texas (Press release) - Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson reports that on October 13, 2010 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the Shelby County Sheriff's Office received a call that 73 year old Marvin Chumbley of Shelbyville had gone hunting and had not returned.
Sheriff Newton Johnson immediately organized a search party, including but not limited to the Huxley VFD, Desoto Parrish Search & Rescue, Shelbyville VFD, Shelby County Pct. 2 Commissioner, Constable Pct. 2, TDCJ dog handlers, Department of Public Safety Troopers and Helicopter.
Sheriff Johnson reports that Mr. Chumbley was found deceased on October 14, 2010 at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the Snyder Camp area about 1 mile from his home. JP2 Bert Furlow came to the scene and pronounced Mr. Chumbley deceased. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
