LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - By Jeff Awtrey - email

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Pearland man was arrested for several charges Thursday night after it was reported he was drunk coming out of the Academy Sports & Outdoor parking lot.

Once Constable Tom Selman stopped him, he discovered Brian Keith Crager, 32, had three different types of prescription drugs and a stolen container from Academy.

Selman said he got the call of Crager's driving and intercepted him on Chestnut Street in the Lufkin city limits.

"He was on prescription drugs and messed up pretty bad," Selman said. "He failed all the sobriety tests and we took him in."

Selman said only one medication, Hydrocodone, was in a prescription bottle. He also had Methadone and Xanax, Selman said, and admitted to using methamphetamine.

"In the course of the investigation, we found some property from Academy," Selman said. "So he had been intoxicated in Academy and stole a plastic storage container with a $30 value."

Crager was booked in the Angelina County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, theft and driving while intoxicated.
