Burned body found in truck has been identified

TYLER, TX (KLTV/KTRE) - Smith County authorities have identified the man found in a burned truck as 52-year-old Ricky James Simar of Rowlett, TX.
The truck was found early Monday morning, February 28, on Cotten Road, off of Highway 64 West.
County authorities confirmed that a burned body was found inside a burned up pick-up truck on Cotten Rd. and Highway 64 W. in Tyler at 5:00, Monday morning. The sex of the victim was uncertain because the body was so badly burned.
Smith County Sheriff JB Smith says he was identified through dental records, but the cause of death has not yet been determined.
