LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was arrested after allegedly leading an Angelina County constable into a high-speed car chase late Monday night.

John Allen Bean, Jr., 23, was charged with felony evading in a motor vehicle and having no driving license.

Tom Selman, Constable of Pct. 1, said he was initially pulling Bean over to give him a warning for a broken taillight around 10 p.m.

The suspect then fled in his 2000 Sunfire, Selman said.

Bean was traveling at a speed of 80 miles per hour when he ran into the parking lot of Henderson Kidney Disease Center, hit a curb and blew his front tires, says Selman.

The car smashed his transmission and airbags deployed, says Selman.

The suspect began to flee on foot, but Selman said he caught up to him behind a residence on Jefferson Ave.

Bean posted a $2,500 bond.
