DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - After emergency personnel transported one of two women killed in a three-vehicle accident in Diboll Monday afternoon to Lufkin's Memorial Hospital, a medical team tried to save her baby but could not.

Diboll Police Chief Ricky Conner said Cherisse Lewis-Robinson, the driver of the Honda Accord that was struck by an 18-wheeler, was 24 to 27 weeks pregnant. Robinson-Lewis, 36, of Richmond, died at the hospital. Her passenger, Yvonne Lewis-Williams, 63, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Esther Barger.

The wreck occurred on North Temple Drive in Diboll. Although the wreck is still under investigation, Sgt. Norman Williams said it appears that the Honda Accord was heading southbound on North Temple Drive when another car driven by Jocis Steeley, 19, of Broaddus, pulled out of the Diboll Depot Center and hit Robinson's car.

The Honda Accord wound up in the northbound lanes of traffic, where it was struck on the passenger side by an 18-wheeler driven by Policarpi Galvan.

Galvan, said he was driving northbound when the two cars hit each other. He said a Honda Accord spun out in front of him and he could not do anything but hit them, crushing the Accord.

Conner said no one else was injured in the accident.
