2 Polk Co. ATV accidents claim lives of 2 teenage boys

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Two, unrelated ATV accidents in Polk County claimed the lives of two teenage boys over the weekend.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety accident report, Ethan Vaughn Cronin was riding a 2013 Honda Rancher ATV north on Benny Griffen Road about a mile and a half from Big Sandy when he entered a turn or a curve to the left and left the roadway. The ATV flipped onto its side and landed on Cronin.

Cronin was the only person on the ATV at the time of the accident.

Cronin was transported to CHI St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in Livingston. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Darrell Longino pronounced Cronin dead at the hospital at 12:26 p.m. Sunday.

Polk County Sheriff Kenneth Hammack confirmed that another teenaged boy another, unrelated ATV accident. No further information was available as of 3:45 p.m. Monday. Captain Rickie Childers said that the accident occurred near Camp Ruby Road on Saturday and that the boy died at a CHI St. Luke's Memorial in Livingston.
