To pray or not to pray is question facing Nacogdoches City Council

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Prayer before a public meeting is up for discussion tomorrow night at the Nacogdoches City Council meeting.
The council has traditionally opened all city council meetings with a non-denominational prayer.
However, an objection was recently voiced.
Now the council has gone to a moment of silence.
This has disturbed residents who are in support of public prayer.
The council sought some advice on how to best address the issue.
Jim Jeffers, Nacogdoches City Manager-" The greatest shortcoming is the city of Nacogdoches doesn't have a written policy," said Jim Jeffers, Nacogdoches' city manager. "So the Liberty Institute is working with putting into writing what the council wishes and has given the council some options and we fully anticipate the issue will be resolved Tuesday night."
The issue will be discussed first in executive session.
At 5:30 pm Tuesday, the proposals will come to the table in open session.
