Man killed in Jasper Co. wreck

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A man from Call died following a two-vehicle crash in Jasper County Sunday morning.

James Lamar Jackson, 79, died at a Beaumont hospital at 6:19 a.m.

According to the DPS report, Tyler Gibson, 20, of Newton, was driving a 2000 Ford F250 northbound on US 96, two miles south of Kirbyville, at 4:30 a.m. He was driving too fast and struck a 1997 Ford pickup, driven by Jackson, in the rear.

Gibson was not injured. He was cited for failure to control speed.
