Crew ruptures gas line on N. Timberland Drive in Lufkin

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A construction crew has ruptured a gas line, resulting in the closure of two restaurants and one street as the gas company works to get the leak under control.

According to Lufkin police spokeswoman Jessica Pebsworth, the call came in at 1:48 p.m. A crew doing construction on a new dollar store hit the gas line.

The Whataburger and Sonic in the same block have closed as a precaution. Pebsworth said part of Paul Avenue, from Timberland Drive to Locke Street, is closed because of the direction the wind is pushing the leak.
