CORRIGAN, TX (KTRE) - A large fire has prompted evacuations for some East Texans in Polk County Sunday night.
The Corrigan Police Department says multiple fire agencies were called out to a large fire after noon, spanning 800 acres around the Barnum Loop area off of Hwy 287.
The CPD says that some homes were destroyed, but that the fire has been contained. There is no word of any injuries, but the area around Barnum Loop has been evacuated. Some evacuees were sent to the Barnum First Baptist Church.
The Texas Forestry Service, Diboll, Livingston, Onalaska, Chester and Colmesneil agencies responded to the blaze.
