LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Goodwill needs your help, all for the chance to play a big role in the upcoming tax season.
It's all apart of their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program or VITA.
The goal is to gather enough volunteers to prepare tax returns for low- to moderate-income residents here in Deep East Texas.
From serving as greeters, interviewers to certified tax preparers, it's themed as a great way to learn a new skill.
"It's good for persons who just want to give back to their community. It's a way to help others, it's a tax education program," said Kristy Bice, senior director of people services.
No previous tax preparation experience is needed and volunteers will have their taxes prepared free of charge.
