LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
It's officially crawfish season here in East Texas.
"It's the beginning of a new year," said Adam Shocklee, owner of Lufkin restaurant Adam's Crawfish Shack. "It looks like everything is going to be good this year."
It seems everyone has been waiting in anticipation to their hands on some crawdads.
"I've been waiting on it all winter," said one excited customer.
"I personally know people that have been waiting since November, just waiting for crawfish season to come," said Lufkin crawfish enthusiast Taylor Alston.
Several excited customers have taken to social media to ask Adam's Crawfish Shack when they would be opening.
"By looking at all the shares and people saying they can't wait to come out it seems like everybody's excited," said Adam's Crawfish Shack entertainment booker Joe Cuellar.
East Texas Crawfish lovers were more than excited to hear Adam's Crawfish Shack was opening earlier than usual this season due to recent weather conditions.
"Mother Nature has a lot to do with it," Shocklee explained.
"In December, we had warmer weather so that allowed them to grow bigger and I think that's why Adam was able to open earlier this year," Alston said.
Shocklee said he believes this year's batch is the best he's seen in years.
"We're going to have a fantastic year," Shocklee said.
So far, his customers seem to agree with him.
"It's good," said one satisfied customer. "Just the right amount of spice and better than I could do at home."
"They're delicious," said another happy customer. "It's the best crawfish I've tasted in a while."
"It's a good amount of spice, not too much, a good amount of flavor, just right on point," Alston described.
Shocklee asked for those looking for great entertainment and even greater meal to stop on by.
"Just come eat and have a good time," Shocklee said.
Every weekend, Adam's Crawfish Shack will have live entertainment. Nacogdoches native Steffany Karback will perform Saturday night.
