Nacogdoches swim team wins district, tabs on coach of the year award

NACOGDOCHES, TX (Press Release)- On Saturday, January 23, the Nacogdoches ISD Dragon Swim team did it again! At a district meet in Lufkin, competing with 11 teams, the Dragon Men won the 14th straight District Title and the Lady Dragons won the 12th straight District Title.

Hailey Goggans was named District Newcomer of the Year and Coach Carrie Scroggins was named District 16-5A Boys Team Coach of the year.

13 men and 13 women form the Nac ISD Dragon Swim Team qualified for the Regional meet in Dallas to be held February 5th and 6th.

"We are hoping to get several relays and some individuals through to the state meet. Our kids swam well and I know they will do well at Regionals in Dallas on Feb 5th and 6th. I was also pleased with how our freshman swam. I see a lot of potential in the upcoming years" said Coach Eric Ewing.

Dr. Fred Hayes says "I am very proud of the work of these coaches and students. Our swim program is a perfect example of the excellence we expect for our schools and programs. Good luck at Regionals."
