Lufkin man killed in two-vehicle wreck Monday night

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man is dead after a two-vehicle collision Monday night.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, Jesus Acosta, 69, died at CHI St. Luke's Memorial after the crash, which happened at the intersection of Raguet Street and Old Mill Road around 6:30 p.m.

A press release sent out by LPD stated that Acosta reportedly pulled out from Old Mill Road in a PT Cruiser into the path of a westbound Cadillac Sedan driven by Alton Dixon, 29, of Lufkin.

Dixon, a physical education teacher and coach at Lufkin High School, was taken by ambulance from the scene to a local hospital and air lifted to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler with unknown injuries.

The press release said he was reportedly conscious and talking immediately following the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Officer Eddie Ibarra.
