LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina College men's basketball coach has agreed to leave the school, according to the school's athletic director.

Guy Davis confirmed Todd Neighbors and the school were "deciding to go separate ways."

Neighbors released the following statement about no longer coaching at Angelina College:

"I'm very proud of my nine years at Angelina. I've had a great opportunity to have coached some tremendous players and even better young men. This is represented by the eight players who are currently playing at the four-year level, five of those at the Division I level,  and five of my former AC players are playing professionally. It was time to move on and pursue other opportunities. I'd like to thank all of the fans, teachers, and boosters who always supported me and my program. My wife and I have some close friends we will dearly miss."

The decision comes after Neighbors was placed on administrative leave in February.

Assistant Coach Curtis Nash will remain as interim head coach for the Region XIV tournament which starts Tuesday.

Neighbors was not immediately available for comment.
