Two killed in Nacogdoches County crash

Released by the Department of Public Safety:

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a two-vehicle crash on FM 2863 (Press Road) in Nacogdoches County.  The crash occurred near Loop 224.

A 2006 Nissan passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on FM 2863.  A 2001 Ford Escape was traveling southbound on FM 2863.  The driver of the Nissan entered a curve at an unsafe speed and lost control.  The Nissan passenger vehicle crossed the center dividing line in a side-skid and was struck in the passenger-side door by the Ford Escape.

Both occupants of the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Nissan has been identified as 26-year-old Erika Castrejon of Nacogdoches and her passenger has been identified as Eric Saldana, 24, of Nacogdoches.

The driver of the Ford, a 42-year-old female from Nacogdoches, was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Memorial hospital in critical condition.  The identity of the driver will not be released until the next of kin has been notified of her medical status.

All lanes of FM 2863 were closed for approximately two hours, but have since reopened.

This is an active crash investigation and all crash details are preliminary.
