LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Now many have turned off the alarm clocks, and are prepping for a week of spring break festivities.

Texas conservation alliance says more than 14 million people are within driving distance to explore the various trails the region has to offer.

The organization is aiming towards East Texans and tourist to explore the great outdoors by pooling together all the trails in one location: EastTexasOutdoors.org.

Representative Richard Donovan says the overall well-being relies on how you connect to the outdoors.

"I think that it would not only increase the health and encourage the health of our youngsters and bring in economic gain to give us pleasure, but it would just the whole cornucopia of everything would be just so special," Donovan said.

Donovan argues the main reason to get outdoors, not only during spring break, is to be more informed.

"Most people cannot identify five different trees that are growing in their yard probably," Donovan said.

The home page is divided in three regions: northeast, central east and southeast. An alternate way to explore the site is by your interest of activity be it hiking trails, paddling trails or urban trails.
