SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office arrested a 29-year-old woman earlier this month in connection to allegations that she exposed her daughters, ages 4 and 2, to meth.

Chelsea Shae Lout was booked in to the San Augustine County Jail on a felony endangering a child charge.

According to the arrest warrant East Texas News obtained Monday, Child Protective Services contacted the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office on April 24 about a child endangerment investigation. The case was assigned to Chief Deputy John Welch.

CPS officials made a visit to Lout's home on March 17. A CPS investigator asked Lout and her children's father to be drug tested. Both people tested positive for methamphetamine, the affidavit stated.

The couple's two girls, ages 4 and 2, tested positive for meth, the affidavit stated.

Hair follicle samples from Lout and the father of her children were sent off to the Texas Alcohol and Drug Testing Service in Houston. Both Lout and the man, who hasn't been arrested yet, tested positive for meth and amphetamine, the affidavit stated.

The two girls were placed in their maternal grandmother's custody.
