JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Two people were killed when a tree fell on the truck they were traveling in late Tuesday night.
Around 11:45 p.m., state troopers responded to reports of a one vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market 777 five miles south of Jasper.
According to officials, the preliminary investigation indicates that Russell Barnes, 51, of Alvin, was driving a 2012 Ford pick-up truck south on FM 777 when a tree fell from the edge of the roadway onto the vehicle. The passenger has been identified as Ginger Barnes, 43, also of Alvin.
The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Justice of the Peace Ronnie Billingsley.
