TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - DPS is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Tyler County.

The crash occurred around 11:30 am. on Friday, May 11, on US 69 near the Ivanhoe Community.

Tommy Bailey, 58, of Woodville and his passenger Heather McGough, 33, of Warren were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that Bailey was driving a 2004 Dodge passenger vehicle and was traveling northbound on US 69 followed by a 2017 Buick passenger vehicle, driven by William Tinkle, 71, of Beaumont. Bailey pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway to make a U-turn and pulled into the path of Tinkle.

Bailey's vehicle was struck on the driver-side.  The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to travel into the ditch before coming to rest.

Tinkle and his passenger both refused medical treatment.

The crash remains under investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
