Nacogdoches bar to host Cade Foehner concert, owner remembers his first gigs
NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The crowd at Lugnutz Bar and Grill Saturday is expected to be much larger than usual.
And, it's all thanks to Cade Foehner.
"I told him that," said bar owner, Larry Neighbors. "You're going places."
Neighbors said he always believed in Cade as a musician, even from early on.
"I'm not sure he was even old enough to be in here without his parents when he first played here," Neighbors said.
Cade has made several appearances on the bar's stage.
Neighbors said the crowds weren't always the most impressive.
"We had a good crowd at some of them that were multi-band shows," Neighbors said. "And, some of them, we had not so good crowds."
But, this didn't keep Cade's rock 'n roll spirit down.
"It didn't matter to Cade," Neighbors said. "He put on a good show whether there was 100 people or 10 people."
This was one of the reasons Neighbors said he helped promote the musician whenever he could.
"He's an old soul rocker that can bring that back to the younger crowd and younger generations and let them see what they missed," Neighbors said.
Neighbors added that the concert was a spur of the moment thing with Cade, that he just wanted to go back to the beginning.
"It makes me proud," Neighbors said. "Makes me proud of him and proud for him. And, to know that we were just a little bit of help along the way, makes me feel good."
Concertgoers are expected to top the bar's current record of just over 400 people.
"It's going to be crazy, and not many people know that this guy is going to blow up," said Lugnutz employee, Cade Neighbors. "It's going to be packed."
Lugnutz's general cover charge is a ticket in and includes a "Meet and Greet" with Cade, after his 8 p.m. set.
Cade will play for an hour, followed by another local band, Lee Mathis and The Brutally Handsome.
