LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Officers arrested a 26-year-old burglary suspect early Friday morning after a property owner caught him in the act of breaking into a building on East Lufkin Avenue and held the suspect at gunpoint, according to the Lufkin Police Department.
Jimmy Travis Lynch, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony burglary of a building charge, a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest charge, and two Class C misdemeanor theft charges. Collectively, his bond amount has been set at $4,500.
According to the Lufkin Police Department's daily activity report, the alleged burglary occurred at a building in the 2900 block of East Lufkin Avenue at about 1:23 a.m. Friday.
The owner caught Lynch in the act of breaking into the building, and he held him at gunpoint until LPD officers arrived at the scene.
Lynch allegedly resisted arrest before the officers could take him into custody.
"The owner's surveillance system captured video of Lynch breaking in and removing tools from the boiler room," the report stated. "Lynch was also in possession of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest."
According to the report, Lynch stole a Wypo torch tool, a Kobalt socket set, and a first aid kit.
