Rain Does Not Take Away All Outdoor Fire Danger

The rain has been falling non-stop across the state, but Texas Forest Service authorities said East Texans should still use caution when lighting fireworks and barbecuing outdoors this Independence Day.

Because of all the wet weather, the ground is moist enough for the fire danger to be minimal. But there are still some dry areas residents need to be aware before lighting up the sky this Fourth of July.

If you are going to barbecue outdoors for the holiday, do not leave your pit unattended and remember, it is illegal to shoot off fireworks in any national forest.
