Fort Carson family moves out of rental after woman falls through the floor

As of this evening, veteran East Texas radio newsman John Sims remained in the intensive care unit at UT Health East Texas in Tyler after being hit by a vehicle. Sims suffered a severe brain injury as a result of an auto-pedestrian crash that happened Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. on Front St. at Bonner Ave. “John Sims is one of the kindest, gentlest souls I’ve ever known,” said Paul Gleiser, KTBB owner. “And he’s also a consummate professional.”

HB 300 would add “tax exempt status to products that you might buy on a daily basis or feel is necessary for your own personal hygiene,” Mark Owens, UT Tyler Associate Professor of Political Science said.

"I just got up there and I got to shake hands with him, and it hit me that I was up on stage with them when I turned back around and I saw the crowd. It was an amazing experience," Coleman Goelz said.

It’s been five years since Kari’s Law, which is a law requiring businesses and organizations to have phone systems capable of dialing 9-1-1 directly without having to dial a number to get an outside line first, passed. The murder that sparked the legislation happened in East Texas.

“We actually called a bond last year and that bond failed by just a handful of votes, and now we are back at the table primarily because we want to provide a high-quality environment for our students to learn,” said Lamond Dean, the superintendent of the schools at Chapel Hill. Dean says This year’s bond is meant to lessen the burden that taxpayers may have previously felt in the last bond by not addressing all Chapel Hill ISD campuses in this year’s bond.
