Tyler ISD nominates 70 teachers for Tyler Optimal Performance Program

The children, who have varying debilitating mental and physical conditions, often get left out of things like concerts and performances, which is why Swinard donated his time to entertain them. Gary Swinard decided to change that.

Longview City Council accepted a $100,000 donation from RDM Management LLC at Thursday evening’s City Council meeting. The city plans use the donation towards constructing six bus shelters.

On Thursday evening, several of the honorees and their family members flew into Tyler for the event. They were welcomed by cheers and applause from a crowd that included the TJC Apache Belles, members of law enforcement, and many East Texas veterans. The event will have vehicles and veterans from around the U.S. in attendance.

"Next thing you know is they heard a bang. A small bang - they thought the tire was out. She (Caitlin Elizabeth) flew to the back seat; they thought she was just playing because she kids like that," said her mother, Senta Holmes.
