Ex-band director facing molestation charges critically injured after shooting self during arrest
BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KSLA/Gray News) - A former high school band director facing dozens of sex offense charges is in critical condition after shooting himself during an arrest Thursday, authorities said.
Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputies were serving an arrest warrant for 56-year-old Kevin Williams at his Bossier City home when he resisted, according to officials. During a physical struggle, Williams pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot himself.
Deputies immediately administered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Williams was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Williams, a now-former band director at Haughton High School, was previously arrested Sept. 22 on 50 counts of molestation of a juvenile and 50 counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Authorities said those charges stemmed from an investigation into the alleged abuse of a former student in the school’s band program.
