Two Lufkin men arrested after two-vehicle accident Saturday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police arrested two men after a two-vehicle accident around 10:30 PM in the 1800 block of East Denman Saturday.

Police say Kendrick Jerard Hadnot, 24, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he allegedly hit another vehicle.

The police report says that the driver of the vehicle Hadnot hit says he was sitting at a stop light, when he heard tires squeal, then the vehicle driven by Hadnot, rear-ended him.

After impact, Hadnot's vehicle struck a ditch, causing one of the back tires to become lodged in the mud.

Officers on scene detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Hadnot. According to the police report, Hadnot admitted to drinking and agreed to a field sobriety test, which he failed.

He was then arrested for DWI. He remains in the Angelina County Jail on a $1,500 bond. 

Police also arrested the passenger in Hadnot's vehicle, Larry Wayne Young, 29, for a public intoxication warrant.

During a search, while officers where arresting, Young, police located a medicine bottle with no label with two, off-white, rock-like substances that appeared to be crack cocaine.

Authorities conducted a field test and the substance tested positive for crack cocaine.

Young's bond for possession of a controlled substance has not been set. He remains in the Angelina County Jail on a $500 bond for a public intoxication warrant.
