METAIRIE, La. (KTRE) - Former Lufkin Panther Ja’Lynn Polk has retired from the NFL at 24, the New Orleans Saints announced Sunday.

Polk was traded to the Saints in September after being drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL draft.

Polk’s decision to retire comes just one week into training camp. Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Polk had been excused from the last two practices due to personal reasons.

Polk finished his NFL career with 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games.
